Why is Label GAP so important?
- Sensor Detection – Most label printers use a gap sensor to detect the space between labels to ensure proper feeding and alignment.
- Printing Accuracy – If the gap is too large, the printer may misfeed or misalign labels.
- Media Compatibility – If your labels have a gap larger than specified in the printer's user manual", the printer may not recognize them correctly or might struggle to advance the media properly.
What to Check:
- If you are using die-cut labels (pre-cut with gaps), ensure that the gap between them does not exceed specifications.
- If using continuous media (no gaps), the specification is irrelevant.
- If you have black mark labels (black sensor marks instead of gaps), the gap specification doesn’t apply.
If you need labels with a larger gap, you may need to check if your printer settings allow adjustments or if a different model is required.

Matte White Polypropylene (BOPP) labels are plastic based. A special inkjet receptive coating that locks in ink allowing exceptional print quality. These labels are excellent for a wide variety of products and conform to the shape they are placed on. This makes them perfect for applications with curved surfaces. These are some of our most highly water and abrasion resistant labels. This material is BS5609 certified with select printers. This is a custom size that will require additional tooling.
