Why is Label GAP so important?

  1. Sensor Detection – Most label printers use a gap sensor to detect the space between labels to ensure proper feeding and alignment.
  2. Printing Accuracy – If the gap is too large, the printer may misfeed or misalign labels.
  3. Media Compatibility – If your labels have a gap larger than specified in the printer's user manual", the printer may not recognize them correctly or might struggle to advance the media properly.

What to Check:

  • If you are using die-cut labels (pre-cut with gaps), ensure that the gap between them does not exceed specifications.
  • If using continuous media (no gaps), the specification is irrelevant.
  • If you have black mark labels (black sensor marks instead of gaps), the gap specification doesn’t apply.

If you need labels with a larger gap, you may need to check if your printer settings allow adjustments or if a different model is required.
